About

My name is Aileen Montag. I am a Speech Language Pathologist that has been working with children  for approx 27 years.  I graduated with a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from Queens College, City University of New York in 1996 and have worked with varied ages and populations, with most of my experience focused on younger children.

For more than a decade, I have been working with children on the Autism spectrum and have a passion for this population.  I recently received an award for Outstanding Community Leadership from the Autism Notebook magazine.

It was an honor to receive an award based on a population which is so near and dear to my heart!

I have also supervised graduate students and CFYs and love sharing information and seeing therapists grow!

I have designed Insight Speech as a site where therapists and parents can send questions about their children and clients and read handouts of information on various speech and language topics. I have a passion for learning as much as I can about the children that I serve.

I have written several articles (several published in Advance magazine for Speech and Language Pathologists). Read them here.

I have also written "Tidbits of info" on various speech and language topics, several of which are available for free, and others which are available to read at a small fee.

Additionally, I have written a children's book which is perfect for working on repetitive lines and a great addition, especially for Mother's day available here.

I have also written several ebooks which contain helpful information for parents and therapists of children with speech and language difficulties  **Note- These books are currently being updated and will be available for purchase at a later date.   Should you have interest in finding out more about these e-books please send us an email, and your name will be added to be contacted once the books are updated.

I am also considering offering podcasts for parents and or therapists, some of which will be available for a fee.  If you have interest, or if there is a topic of interest that you would like to see as a podcast please email your inquiry.

If you are a therapist or parent of a child with special needs and are looking for some helpful advice, we have it! The Help Center allows you to submit a general speech and language question, or a question or concern specifically related to your child or client.

***Note- The information in my books and on this website is based on my experiences as a Speech Language Pathologist and although various technigues/ strategies/ideas are presented which have been helpful to me ,not all of these strategies will work with all children.  If you are a parent of a child who is currently receiving speech/language therapy, it is recommended to speak with your child's therapist regarding best practices.  If you are a practicing Speech Language Pathologist it is always recommended to research various ideas, look at evidence based strategies, and collaborate with other professionals.
